Eligibility

What requirements must be met to obtain a loan?
  • Be a Canadian citizen and have a residential address in Quebec.
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Have a Canadian bank account that has been active for at least 3 months, into which you receive direct deposits from your employer.
  • You must have had a stable job for at least 3 months, from which you receive a salary via direct deposit, and earn at least $1,200 per month.
  • Have few or no "non-sufficient funds" (NSF) transactions.
  • Not be on the verge of bankruptcy or about to file for consumer bankruptcy.
  • Have a low short-term debt ratio (other short-term loans).
I get paid in cash or by check: Can I take out a loan?

Unfortunately, no. Your paycheck must be deposited via direct deposit in order to qualify for a loan.

I receive unemployment benefits, benefits from the CNESST, the RRQ, or disability insurance: Am I eligible?

Yes, most of the time. Certain conditions may apply—please contact us for more information.

What could cause my application to be denied?

Your loan may be denied if you do not meet the eligibility requirements. It may also be denied if, among other things:

  • you have several recent insufficient funds (NSF) payments;
  • Your short-term debt level is too high;
  • Your income over the past three months has not been stable enough;
  • You have an unresolved consumer complaint.

If your application is denied, check out our guide Getting a Loan with Bad Credit to find out what your options are.

Amounts and Fees

How much can I borrow for my first loan?

First-time borrowers are eligible for a $500 loan. Once you've established a credit history, you can request a larger amount, up to $1,000.

Do you offer loans of more than $1,000?

Prêt Express specializes in small, fast loans ranging from $300 to $1,000, with quick disbursement. For a larger personal loan (up to $2,000), visit our sister site predigo.ca.

Can I pay off my loan early?

Yes. Paying off your loan early generally reduces the total cost of your loan. The exact terms are outlined in your contract—see also our page Rates, Fees, and Transparency.

What are your fees and interest rate?

Our guarantee fees vary depending on the risk and the amount requested. Co-borrower fees range from 6.95% to 22%. Visit the page Rates, Fees, and Transparency for more details.

What happens if a payment is missed?

The debt will be sent to a collection agency. The applicable interest rate is 1.84% per month, or 22% annually. In addition, you will be charged a $40 fee at the end of your contract if a payment is declined due to insufficient funds or for any other reason. Please note that you may defer a payment for a $25 administrative fee.

Deadlines and Submission

How long will it take for me to receive my money?

In most cases, as soon as your application is approved, we’ll transfer your funds directly to your bank account within 24 business hours—or instantly via express deposit, for a $12 fee.

Can I get a quick loan without a credit check?

Yes. We look at your current financial information rather than your credit history. To understand how this works, read our guide Loans Without a Credit Check in Quebec.

My request has been sent—what happens next?

Our review team will go over your application to make sure everything is in order and that it meets our lenders' requirements. The process can take up to 1 business day, but it's usually faster.

How do I renew my loan?

Log in to your Customer Area : Your application has already been approved; there are just two confirmation questions left. A renewal request approved before 4:00 p.m. is submitted the same day. See the page for details Renewal.

VBI and Security

What documents are required for an application?

The only document required is instant bank verification (VBI, via Flinks).

What is Instant Bank Verification (IBV)?

Instant Bank Verification (IBV) is an expedited process that allows us to verify certain information about you instantly, without requiring you to provide any documents. This is what enables us to offer such short turnaround times.

Are there any documents that need to be submitted with a VBI application?

No. This method is faster, simpler, and you don't have to send any documents.

Is it safe to file a claim with the VBI?

Absolutely. VBI has confirmed that your information is correct. Under no circumstances can we access your bank account or change your banking information.

Do you have access to my bank account?

No, under no circumstances. We will never have access to your password or username. If you submit a request through VBI, we only receive a read-only copy of your bank statement.

Is my request confidential?

Yes, our loans are 100% confidential.

Are you going to call my employer?

We make a simple call to your employer to confirm that you work there, your start date, and the expected duration of your employment. These calls are completely confidential: our team never discloses to your employer that you are applying for a loan.

Documents (Standard Request)

What forms of identification do you accept?
  • Valid driver's license
  • Valid health insurance card
  • Valid passport
What proof of residence do you accept?

Recent bills that are in your name and list your address—for example, your electricity bill or phone bill.

What is a pay stub?

A pay stub is the statement your employer gives you with each paycheck. It may be printed along with your paycheck or sent by email if you receive direct deposit.

What is a bank statement?

A document showing all the transactions in your account over the past 30 days, typically available online. For a standard request, please provide the most recent statement for the account where your paychecks are deposited.

What is a check specimen?

A voided check. We need this to deposit your loan into the correct account. You can also provide a preauthorized deposit form.
